Fawaz’s passion for painting started in her early childhood years. Her native village of Dhour Choueir was a natural living space for the artist to discover beauty. Mountains and valleys, pine trees, the scent of thyme and briars were the inspirations that stimulated her to cultivate her talents. Between 1982 and 1987 Fawaz enrolled in fine arts classes at the Lebanese American University of Beirut where she developed her skills as a painter. She also took courses on the human figure with artist Paul Guiragossian. Fawaz painted figures for many years in an expressionist fashion using vibrant colors; she expressed strong emotions often contradictory, depicting images and experiences of everyday life. As her style and technique developed, the artist transcended the form. It was abstract art that helped her probe an inner world abounding with emotions. Her paintings were mostly based on classical music, combining rhythm, movement, and vibrations expressing joy at times and sorrow at others. The space and depth which characterize her paintings have been seen by many as poetic. Since 1989 Fawaz has participated in several group exhibitions both at home and abroad, among others, in Lebanon at Art Deco, Gallery Epreuve D’artiste, The Salon d’Automne of the Sursock Museum, the Dutch Culturzentrum and abroad at the Centre Culturel Francais in Saudi Arabia, in Carousel Du Louvre France, in Palazzo Priuli Bon, in Dubai and Kuwait. She is a member of the Lebanese Association of Painters and Sculpturs. Most of her individual exhibitions like Le Champs De La Terre at gallery Aida Cherfan, Les Oiseaux Deguises, and Peintures at gallery Epreuve D’Artiste and Song from within at gallery World of Art, Rhythm et Vision at gallery Exode where all based on musical themes. Renee Fawaz is also a pianist and a writer of prose.
